Agganis Arena Ranks 106 in World Ticket Sales in Pollstar Annual Report

Boston, MA (December 14, 2021): Agganis Arena, a state of the art, seven thousand seat venue located on the campus of Boston University, ranked 106th Worldwide and 85th in the United States amongst concert venues of all capacities, according to Pollstar’s End of Year Sales Report.

“As with the rest of the industry and world in general, we faced huge challenges navigating the pandemic last year, which saw the rapid standstill of all live events at our venue. We are thankful for the crowds that were eager to get back to live events when we opened our doors. We are extremely grateful to all of our promoter partners, including Live Nation, AEG, Cardenas Marketing Network, SJ Presents, Zamora Entertainment, and Loud and Live, along with all the artists and tours who have brought their shows to our venue and believed in our ability to ensure safety and excitement for all fans.” Agganis Arena General Manager Kristoffer Brassil said of the honor.

Pollstar, the Voice of Live Entertainment for over 40 years, provides the most up-to-date, relevant and useful data available from and for the global concert industry, delivering an unmatched archive of live entertainment data, a focus on editorial excellence, and the most powerful metrics of entertainment industry success available anywhere. Pollstar’s Year End Sales Report, in which Agganis Arena was honored, was released on December 13, 2021 and covers all live events for the period from November 19, 2020 through November 17, 2021, not inclusive of team sporting events. During this period, Agganis Arena sold 35,075 tickets for five concerts. “It’s remarkable to have made it into the rankings given we did not reopen until this past October.   To have only one month to generate the numbers to rank as high as we did while other venues were open much sooner is quite a feat.” noted Brassil.

Located within Boston University’s $225 million John Hancock Student Village, Agganis Arena is a multipurpose sports and entertainment center that opened in January 2005 and serves as home to the nationally recognized Terrier men’s hockey team. A 290,000-squre-foot premier venue with 6,300 seats for hockey and ice shows, the Arena is expandable to over 7,200 seats for concerts, conventions, and family shows that occur throughout the year.
